How B&G Stepped Up to Support Local Businesses
At B&G, we believe in leading by example. In March 2020, as the world faced unprecedented challenges, we felt a strong urge to support local independent businesses. The loss of our beloved local coffee shops was too much to bear, and after a spirited discussion around our studio table, we decided to take action against this looming threat to our community.
The result? Good Liverpool—one of the UK’s first and largest online marketplaces dedicated to local, quality goods, backed by purpose. This self-initiated project quickly gained momentum and evolved into what is now known as the Good Market.
The Good Market has continued to grow and develop, working with and supporting over 500 artisanal local producers and makers from the North West and further afield. We’ve built a thriving community of growing businesses, initiated an Academy programme to help business owners navigate challenges, and in spring 2024, we backed the largest indoor market event in the north—Good Market XL which welcomed over 4500 visitors.
Black&Ginger has not only provided creative support but also had the pleasure of collaborating with local producers—coffee roasters, gin makers, and craft breweries—to create bespoke products that are branded and sold at the Good Market.
Our journey with the Good Market is a testament to the power of community and collective effort, and are proud to have played a role in helping local businesses thrive. We continue to work closely with our sister, retail arm and look forward to continuing the mission of rebuilding the high street in a more purposeful and sustainable way.
In 2021 the GoodMarket was shortlisted as ‘Tech for Good’ project of the year by Digital City Awards.
Since then the group has been nominated for several awards including Lloyds Bank Business Excellence Awards, Liverpool Echo Awards, Natwest Business Awards.

Laughin’ Exhibition
Creativity That Brings Joy and Makes a Difference
At B&G, we believe that creativity has the power to put a smile on everyone’s face. That’s why we curated an exhibition that celebrates both humor and creativity, all while making a positive impact on our community. Partnering with the local mental health charity, The Open Door Centre, we aimed to create an event that was as meaningful as it was entertaining.
The exhibition was a resounding success. Artists from Liverpool and around the globe generously offered their time and talent to support the cause, producing artwork that not only tickles the mind but also leaves us Laughin’. This collaboration highlighted the incredible power of art to bring joy, spark laughter, and foster a sense of community—all while supporting a vital cause.

Fostering Creativity: Our Annual Portfolio Review Event
Our commitment to nurturing creativity and supporting aspiring designers has led us to establish an annual event that has become a cornerstone of our community outreach. Every year, we invite aspiring designers and creatives to our studio for a one-on-one portfolio review with Black & Ginger our in-house design team.
This event has attracted attendees from across the UK and even virtual participants from Europe, leading to engaging and insightful conversations with talented designers from around the world. These interactions not only provide valuable feedback to budding creatives but also inspire and enrich our own creative processes at B&G.
We look forward to continuing this tradition, fostering a vibrant community of designers and creatives who share our passion for innovation and excellence.
